I believe that a compliment can change the world in a profound way. If sincere, a person being complimented is much more likely to compliment others, thus begging a chain of positive expressions of admiration and respect. That’s why I completely endorse the concept explained in the video above and I hope it goes a long way to combating cyberbullying.

Teachers do not have the right to get physical with their students no matter how bullied, humiliated or intimidated they are made to feel. I can understand what this teacher was thinking and I sympathise with the position he was put in, but his actions were simply not acceptable. If only teachers were treated with greater respect from the wider community, then students would get a more positive insight into what we do and why we do it. This kind of attitude comes about from a growing lack of respect for teachers from the wider community.
Video of a student punching and attacking a substitute teacher at Palm Beach Lakes High School in Florida is going viral, and school officials are investigating the filmed incident.
The video begins with an unnamed student and the substitute teacher — identified by students as Mr. Smith or “Smitty” — standing face-to-face in an argument. The student then shoves the teacher and punches him. The teacher tackles the student, chasing him until the teen runs out of the room. It’s unclear what the brawl was about, but students interviewed by WPTV spoke highly of the teacher and said students should show respect for him.
“A teacher should, you know, stand up for himself, but not to go on ahead and you know,” Palm Beach Lakes High senior Darrel Phillips told the station. “I’m speechless right now.”
School officials declined comment on an open case, but say that the substitute teacher has been fired and the student was expelled.
The students involved would have got suspended in a less tolerant school. But this teacher shows up trigger-happy schools that suspend like it’s going out of fashion, when he decides to take a more thoughtful approach to reacting to a ruckus:
A Chicago magnet high school senior prank turned into an example of excellent school management when a dean took an unconventional approach to a feisty student’s challenging behavior last Tuesday.
Teens begin to bang on chairs and tables, and the students start hollering. One boy, with the loud support of his peers, runs up to a faculty member’s doorway and dances in front of a woman’s face.
The student then circles the space, looking for another challenger, when a man in a white shirt and tie catches his eye. The young man takes a flying leap, lands in front of the teacher’s nose and begins to dance furiously.
What happens next, however, is both hilarious and unexpected.
Clearly amused, the administrator, identified in the video as Dean of Students John Fanning, takes the boy’s hijinks in stride, breaking out into a dance of his own that looks an awful lot like a version of an Irish jig.
“Like any kid who grew up in [predominantly Irish Chicago neighborhood] Rogers Park, I was dragged to Irish dance classes,” Fanning told The Huffington Post.
The post on Reddit is titled “Teacher strikes back in the best way possible,” and many of the comments commended the teacher for his response. “No one got assaulted, no one got insulted, everything was awesome,” user “ppcpunk” wrote.
Why get angry? Fanning asked. “As senior pranks go, it’s pretty tame and innocuous,” he said.
Jeroen Wolf found 100 people, ranging in age from nought to 100, and persuaded them to reveal on camera how old they were.
He then put all the clips together to make a poignant video showing the volunteers counting to 100 – revealing how the ageing process alters how we look as we continue on life’s journey.
Mr Wolf said his job was easiest collecting shots of youths and middle-aged people, but that he had more difficulty accessing the very young and very old, who are more vulnerable and protected.He admitted that his collection was not completely representative of the population of Amsterdam, where the project was filmed, as representatives of some minorities were more reluctant to appear on camera than others.
This video shows a student bystander who chooses to walk past a janitor who had taken a nasty fall. I am very disappointed to see this kind of behaviour.

Maths is not usually top of the list when it comes to favourite subjects at school.
But one teacher has found a novel way of getting his pupils attention.
Professor Matthew Weathers starts all his lessons with comical introduction piece – and now his endeavors are causing a stir on YouTube.
In the latest of his videos, the maths genius, who teaches at the Biola University in California, piques the curiosity of students learning about imaginary numbers with an impressive display of computer wizardry.
He creates a double of himself on a computer which appears on a white board behind his desk and then proceeds to chat to his imaginary self.
His class burst into fits of giggles as his double asks him to stop interfering in the lesson, asks him to leave the room and tells him off when he tinkers with the microphone.
The video has already amassed 17,000 YouTube hits.
Mr Weather said: ‘I like asking interesting questions or telling interesting stories but with a smaller class, it’s easier to do tricks on them.
‘I upload my videos on YouTube so my students can see them but then other people start looking at them.’
Above is a video taken by Ridgefield, Connecticut couple David and Elena Barnes of themselves and their five-year-old daughter Anaia during a vacation with Power Boat Adventures in the Bahamas. In the 9-minute clip, the family snorkels in shallow water with a number of shark breeds (shown being fed by Power Boat employees at the opening of the clip), including mild nurse sharks as well as the more excitable and predatory lemon and Caribbean reef varieties. The video has hit 350,000 views on YouTube and provoked massive amounts of criticism from maritime professionals and parents alike. Before the comments were disabled, the San Franciso Gate’s Mommy Files blog reposted a sample YouTube response from commenter luigib0511:
“I’m an experienced diver who did work for the Oceanic Association scuba diving with sharks and other dangerous fish. What this people have done is an outrage and an extreme stupidity. Swimming with sharks is not a Sea World adventure.”
A newspaper story and video of George Westinghouse Career and Technical Education High School shop teacher and security dean Stephan Hudson manhandling freshman Kristoff John, found its way to the front cover and website of the Daily News today, months after the March 6 attack, which left John with a sore back and a reputation as the aggressor in the incident. Indeed, John’s mother, Diane John, was told her son attacked the teacher and that they were doing him a favor by not disciplining him—and she took the word of Hudson and school officials over her son, who insisted he did nothing wrong and didn’t deserve the beating. John later transferred out of the school and, eventually, his mother sent him to his native Grenada to live with relatives.
But when the Daily News showed Diane John the tape, she was absolutely shocked and is now demanding the police and the city’s Department of Education investigate the incident. “They lied to me!” the betrayed mom said tearfully when The News showed her the clip for the first time. “No one wants to see their son taken advantage of and beaten like this.”
