One Response to “Why Teachers Should “Unfriend” Students”

The only problem I have with this is for teachers working in small districts. I worked in one and several of the teachers there had their children in our school. As good parents they kept track of their kids FB pages and as many parents do they had their kids friends on their own friend lists (I have the kids of two of my best friends on my list, then again I try really hard to watch what I post) but depending on how the policy is written it would be breaking the rules for those teachers to have even their own kids on their FB friends list. Other than that though it’s just safer. I only accept friend requests from former students that have graduated or if they dropped out (and unfortunately there have been a few) when they turn 18, incidentally the same time I allow them to start calling me by my first name 🙂
