We can all agree that male teachers who have sex with their students are criminals. But if it is a female teacher who engages in a sexual encouter with a student, the public disapproval isn’t nearly as strong.
In fact some, like Saturday Night Live, treat it as a joke:
I can’t believe a show like SNL could stoop so low. I realise that this skit has been panned on social media, but just the fact that this skit could be concocted and televised suggests that female teachers are not held to the same standards as male teachers.
